Industrial artificial intelligence for chemical blending, packaging and distribution plants
A chemical distribution and blending plant does not make molecules: it formulates, packages, identifies and delivers. Between the tanker unloading into the tank farm and the drum arriving at a branch there are five or six pairs of hands, as many pieces of paper, and a hazard label that has to state exactly the truth. Every one of those hand-offs is a chance for the liter to lose its identity.
The pains of this sub-sector are its own and they repeat in every plant: blending orders and packaging logs that live on paper until the end of the shift; a solvent recovery unit whose panel leaves no history; critical alerts from suppliers and carriers read too late; a laboratory releasing batches on a spreadsheet somebody retypes; bulk receiving keyed in with the truck waiting; changeovers signed off without evidence; and, at month end, bulk shrinkage nobody can explain.
These pages hold twelve IRIS use cases applied to that specific reality, grouped into the three blocks of the architecture: Connect (capturing what is lost today), Edge (AI vision on the line) and Agents (memory that becomes a brain). None of them requires replacing a machine: they all sit on top of the equipment, the paperwork and the systems the plant already has, with the human always in command of the decision.
