The cycle of an automotive water pump crosses three worlds: mechanical assembly (impeller, shaft, bearing, seal), the test bench (flow, pressure, tightness, vibration signature) and PPAP logistics toward the OEM. All three live in different systems: assembly in spreadsheets and kanban cards; the bench on an industrial PC with proprietary software; PPAP on a SharePoint server updated by hand.

The most expensive defect is not the gross one (zero flow) — the bench catches that. It is the subtle one: the seal that seats crooked and starts leaking after 200 hours in the customer's car. Or the impeller with a slightly deformed blade that cavitates under load.
