Verify in two taps, before the data crosses into the ERP

What sets iLEAN apart from an "autonomous" AI is this: nothing enters the central system without a human seeing it first. A line-side tablet shows the summary and the supervisor confirms with two taps.

The problem

The fear is not the AI. It is a contaminated ERP.

The main cultural blocker to digitizing the plant floor is the fear that AI enters data unsupervised and contaminates the ERP. But operators don't want to type either.

  • The biggest cultural blocker to digitizing a white-goods floor is simple: nobody wants an AI entering data into the ERP unsupervised, and quality and IT are right to say so.
  • A wrong compressor batch or serial range in the master data surfaces months later, in a warranty claim nobody can trace back to the line.
  • At the same time, operators and line leads do not want to type. So data is either entered late by someone who never saw the line, or not captured at all.
  • The result is the worst combination: distrust of automation and an ERP that is still incomplete, with the gaps filled by memory. Every month the plant waits, that gap grows. And the arguments against digitizing stay exactly where they were.
How it fits the IRIS system

Connect with early human verification — the AI proposes, the supervisor confirms.

Every capture — a Work Order photo, a voice- dictated issue, a parsed email — first lands on a tablet as a 2-second visual summary. The supervisor confirms (✓) or corrects (✏️) before the data crosses into the master system.

This is what separates iLEAN from an "autonomous" AI. Every datum enters the ERP with the name of the person who confirmed it, and that is what makes the other eleven cases acceptable to quality and to IT. Without this piece, the matrix does not get approved.

Impact estimate

Impact estimate — to be validated with your numbers.

The block below is an estimate to be validated against your plant's actual data. We put it forward so the committee has an order of magnitude; we refine it during the assessment.

  • No standalone payback: this is the enabling piece of the whole matrix, so we do not give it a number of its own.
  • Its value is strategic: it is what lets the Work Order, delivery note, lab and labeler cases write into the ERP at all.
  • Data that was unvalidated, or never captured out of distrust, becomes captured and validated data with seconds of latency.
  • And master data stays clean, which is what any serial-number, batch or warranty investigation depends on months later. Every confirmation also leaves a trail: who confirmed, when and what was corrected.

Enabling piece for the whole iLEAN matrix — strategic value, not directly monetizable.

And the fair question from the production manager

"If someone confirms everything anyway, why the AI?" — because the work is in assembling, not in deciding. Reading a Work Order or a supplier email is an anchored task where the best models drop below 1.5% error [1], so the summary almost always arrives right and the supervisor only confirms. When it is wrong, the correction takes seconds and is stored, so extraction improves at that exact point. Over time, the supervisor corrects less and confirms faster.

Frequently asked questions

What people ask about the two taps on the tablet

Can iLEAN write to the ERP without a confirmation?

No, and it is not a setting someone can switch off. Confirmation before the ERP is part of the architecture, for every case in the matrix. Quality and IT can verify that rule in the audit trail at any time.

How long does a confirmation take?

About two seconds. The summary arrives already assembled: the supervisor reads it and taps confirm, or taps edit and fixes the one field that is wrong. Most confirmations end up being a single tap, because the summary is right. The supervisor never has to type a full record again.

What happens if nobody confirms for an hour?

The capture waits in the queue and nothing crosses. Pending items are flagged so they do not pile up unseen until the end of the shift. The supervisor sees the count of pending captures on the tablet at a glance.

Does it have to be an industrial tablet?

On the line, a rugged tablet on a stand is the practical choice because it survives the floor. Dust, vibration and gloves are the conditions it is chosen for. One tablet per line usually serves every case that feeds that line. Confirmations can also be done from the supervisor's phone.

Is it needed before the other cases?

In practice yes. It is the piece that makes quality and IT accept that the rest of the cases write into the master system. It is also the piece that shows the team, every day, that the AI never acts alone. That daily proof is what turns distrust into adoption on the floor.
