The dock bottleneck is not the goods — it is the paperwork.

At a B2B loading dock the truck arrives at an approximate time, the driver walks into the office, hands over paperwork, the dock supervisor looks up the order in the ERP, types the plate and assigns the dock. Minutes go by. And every step is a failure point:

  1. Manual identification. The driver says a plate and nobody checks it against the actual vehicle until the final signing step — if one digit is wrong, the assignment goes to the wrong order.
  2. Dock assignment. The supervisor decides manually and, at peak hours with 4-6 active docks, the physical order and dock may not match what was assigned.
  3. Delivery note and sign-off. Paper travels between office and dock, with waiting time while it is printed, signed and returned. When the customer complains about the wrong goods weeks later, the supervisor reconstructs by hand what happened that day.
