EN 61439-2 is strict about what counts board by board: routine tests, declaration of conformity and component list must match for the serial number that goes out the door. At most switchboard manufacturers, those three blocks live on islands:

- The board's bill of materials — circuit breakers, contactors, busbars, ratings, part numbers. In the ERP or in the vertical MES, where the sales rep has already swapped some component because of a stock-out.
- The signed EU declaration of conformity — a PDF in a network folder, drafted at the end by looking at the other two places and praying they add up.
When the auditor arrives — from the customer, from the IEC side or from the notified body — somebody spends a week stitching PDFs together to rebuild the file for board number X. The classic system works 99% of the time. That 1% is a non-conformity in an audit — and reopening a DoC with the end customer already on site is a hard cost to the brand.
