Cured-meat lab spreadsheets linked to the ERP

Application example · Impact to validate

The quality lead fills in a spreadsheet every batch with aw, pH, humidity and microbiology — in a folder the ERP never sees. iLEAN Connect detects the spreadsheet, absorbs each cell as it's saved and, after validation, inserts it automatically into the ERP.

Connect laboratory results to the right curing batch — IRIS Connect
The problem

Connect laboratory results to the right curing batch

Two parallel worlds — the real spreadsheet with live data, and the official ERP with data transcribed weeks later by someone spending hours a month copy-pasting and introducing errors.

  • The relationship between sample and batch matters more than copying cells quickly. A workbook may include pH, water activity, moisture and provisional microbiology results. Identify the sample, units, available method reference and result status. Keep monitoring tests distinct from the results quality uses for a release decision, even when they share a spreadsheet tab.
How it fits the IRIS system

Preparing this use case at the plant

Connect's "listen inward" mode — watches the shared folder, reads the delta on save, parses with a grounded LLM, validates on screen, pushes to the ERP via API.

Agree on watched workbooks, supported versions and relevant columns. Saving a file triggers change detection without reimporting the entire history. The responsible person reviews values and batch matching before transmission. A later laboratory correction creates a traceable revision; it should not silently erase a prior result or turn incomplete information into an accepted quality conclusion.

Impact estimate

Measure results before scaling

The block below is an estimate to be validated against your plant's actual data. We put it forward so the committee has an order of magnitude; we refine it during the assessment.

If 4 lab people currently log into the ERP just to enter data, with Connect only 1 validates — typical 50-80% reduction in quality/lab-module licenses. Estimated payback of 4-9 months. Estimate to be validated.

Frequently asked questions

Questions about cured-meat lab spreadsheets linked to the erp

Can spreadsheets containing formulas be imported?

Check whether the required information is the calculated value, original measurement or both. Include blank cells, formula errors and decimal separators in the trial. The laboratory retains technical judgment while the integration presents exceptions for review. Text in an unexpected cell should not be automatically interpreted as a valid measurement simply to complete an import.

Are ERP license savings guaranteed?

They depend on contract terms, integration rights and the tasks each person will continue performing. The example range is a hypothesis to review with IT and purchasing. First measure time spent transcribing and reconciling results, then verify whether paid access can actually be retired. Fewer manual entries alone do not establish a licensing saving.
