What people ask about the traceability dossier

Does it trace down to the component reel?

That is the point of it: reel lot, feeder position, work order, operator, changeover and inspection results, all hanging from the board's serial number, and all captured by the cases that already run upstream.

Does the auditor get access to our systems?

No. They open a view scoped to the period and scope of their audit, filter, and download the evidence pack from the web. Nothing outside that scope is exposed, which is what makes it acceptable to share with a customer who is also a competitor's customer.

Does it serve several certifying standards at once?

Yes, and that is where the repeated work disappears: the evidence is the same, what changes is the scheme it is indexed against for each standard or each customer's own supplier requirements.

What about a board built before we deployed it?

The dossier builds forward from day one. Bringing in historical records is optional and is scoped separately, because it is a data migration rather than a capture case and should be priced as one.

How does it help with a field failure on one serial number?

It answers the question that actually matters: which other boards share that reel lot, that feeder setup or that changeover, so containment is bounded to them instead of widened to the month as a precaution.
