A flange left untorqued on a hot solvent circuit, or a blind forgotten in a line, does not produce a defective part: it produces a process safety incident and a shutdown lasting days. «What if a camera blocks the start-up for no reason?» — that is the right objection, because the start-up window is the most expensive hour of the year. Each point is compared against its reference state and, in case of doubt, the system does not block silently: it escalates the point to the responsible person, who looks and signs on the evidence. It stops on a verifiable discrepancy — a blind still in place, a valve in the wrong position — not on model uncertainty. Which points are covered?

Does it work at night, in the rain?

Fixed points have their own lighting; occasional points are captured with the tablet's flash. The reference image is taken under the same conditions the verification will happen in, because most start-ups after a turnaround finish at night.

Can the responsible engineer override a red point?

An exception can be signed with a reason and it is recorded as such, with the image of the point as it was. What cannot happen is a pressurization authorization with no trace of who decided and on what.

Does it replace the pre-startup safety review?

No. The PSSR keeps its process and its authorities. This case gives it objective evidence per line-up point instead of a checklist signed under time pressure.

What about cameras in a classified area?

Fixed cameras carry the rating of the zone, like any other installed electrical equipment. It is a hardware selection at commissioning, not a limitation of the case.
